Labour welcomes Government intervention to save the local plan

It's not top of the public's priority list, but the local plan shapes our lives - where new homes and roads are built, what happens to our countryside, and where the schools and health services go.

West Northants hasn't agreed a local plan since it was set up - and even before then the old Northamptonshire County Council hadn't revised theirs since 2014. Council officers have spent over five years trying to develop one.

That's why we supported the draft plan to go out to consultation. And it's why we supported Government intervention when the Reform-led council decided to rip the draft plan up and start again.

We'll be holding a consultation meeting, with input from Cllr Bob Purser, deputy leader of the Labour Group and a member of the Council's planning policy committee that oversaw the drawing up of the draft plan.
